"I'll be glad to have her company," says Grey. "Wandering around alone in this mansion doesn't seem to be a good idea."

"A wise decision," says Patchouli as she continues reading. "Perhaps you are not as reckless as I first thought."

"P-Please take care of me!" stammers Koakuma.

What?

After saying farewell to Patchouli, who dismisses them with a wave, Grey and Koakuma head out of the library. The little devil follows a small distance behind him. He can hardly hear her footsteps. While having a pretty girl follow you around is novel, he feels a bit unnerved by it all the same. Perhaps some conversation can break this awkward atmosphere.

"Hey Koakuma," he starts. "Aren't you curious about where we are going?"

"E-Eh?" says Koakuma. "Umm... so where are we going, then?"

When he turns around to face her, she seems completely out of it. Her face gradually turns red as he continues to stare. This seems strange. Why is she so distracted all of a sudden?

"Are you feeling alright?" asks Grey.

"Ah! Y-Yes, I'm just fine," says Koakuma. "Maybe I'm just a little bit.."

Grey doesn't catch the last word, as she says it only in a whisper. But if she says that she is fine, then he shouldn't pursue the issue unnecessarily.

"Alright then," says Grey. "Do you mind if we pass by my room for a bit?"

"W-What?" mumbles the little devil. Why is she so nervous? He isn't going to eat her or anything. Not if he can help it, anyway.

"I just need to pick up a few things," he says. "I hope you don't mind."

...

After a few minutes, Grey tells her that he is ready.

There were several different things in his room, but most of the items seemed like junk. He only took a few things. He decided to take the Stradivarius violin and its case. For some reason, he feels that this will be useful somehow. He also takes some fresh ammo clips for his pistol, making sure that he has two spare clips. This should be more than enough for any unexpected encounters.

"Are you ready now?" Koakuma asks.

Grey gives her a solemn nod. This time, he won't be caught offguard.
